Backbending Workshop January 3rd

Open your heart center and release your spine in our upcoming Backbending Workshop January 3rd!


Backbending asanas (poses) can be exhilarating and liberating when done correctly- with the right support and guidance, we'll walk through several fundamental principles and techniques of backbending. With the use of yoga blocks and straps, we'll have all the props and guided hands on support to find several backbending poses with ease + comfort. 

A combination of strength and flexibility, our spine is made up of strong bones and large muscles to provide structure to the body and protect our sensitive nerves. The flexibility of the spine comes from our ligaments and tendons allowing different planes movement. With regular backbending, we can help support and protect this delicate balance, strengthening the supporting muscles around the skeleton and increasing our mobility. When done correctly, backbends will feel challenging but comfortable.

This workshop is open to those with a current yoga practice, we will have yoga blocks and props to assist those of all levels, but this course is not recommended for first-time yoga practitioners, or those with recent or chronic injury to the hips, back or neck.
